Arnold Bergsträsser Institut
The ABI is one of Germany’s major research centers in the domain of both comparative area studies and transregional studies. It is an independent, non-profit research institute associated with the University of Freiburg. The institute‘s research focuses on questions of power transformations, state institutions and societal conflicts in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. The current research falls into three clusters:
The BİRARADA Science, Arts, Education, Research, and Solidarity Association.
The association was established in Istanbul in August 2018 by peace academics who were purged from the Turkish academy. BİRARADA carries out public seminars and workshops in various disciplines, and aims to establish an interdisciplinary academic institute with international ties to further academic solidarity and freedom, and conduct independent research.
Center for Social Development Studies (CSDS)
The Center for Social Developmnt Studies was established as a research unit within the Faculty of Political Science, Chulalongkorn University in 1985. It was established to undertake interdisciplinary research linking across the various fields of political science within the Faculty (government, public administration, international relations, and sociology and anthropology) and more broadly in the social sciences, and to provide support in education, research, and teaching. Working towards these goals, in 2006, the CSDS supported the launch of the MA in International Development Studies (MAIDS) programme.
Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS)
Founded in 1963, the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS)
brings together scholars from the social sciences and the humanities. It
is widely regarded as one of the leading research centres in the non-
Western world. Faculty members enjoy the complete freedom to pursue
individual research interests, to work with one another, or to
collaborate with scholars outside the Centre. The faculty initiates such
collaborations through projects and programmes which in turn generate a
much larger network of scholars, intellectuals, and institutions. The
Centre values its autonomy and the continuing critical presence in the
public domain for which it is widely respected. The CSDS generates
research in the hope that it will shape public opinion, influence policy,
and make meaningful interventions in society.
Centro de Estudos Africanos
The Centro de Estudos Africanos (Centre for African Studies, CEA) is a research institution at the Eduardo Mondlane University, and was founded in 1979-1980 by Ruth First and Aquino de Bragança. Originally it was quite explicitly a vehicle for the Marxist analysis of Mozambican reality.
Department of Clinical Psychology
The Department of Clinical Psychology within the Institute of Psychology in the University of Sao Paulo is a research and career development centre. The disciplines taught and studied, and the research carried out at this department, aim towards the acquisition of a university degree and academic titles as well as offering the necessary means for professionals to develop investigative skills while providing individuals with the necessary qualification for professional practice.
Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies

The Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS) was founded in 1995 (initially called ‘Programme for Land and Agrarian Studies’) as a specialist unit in the School of Government, in the Economic and Management Sciences Faculty, at the University of the Western Cape (UWC), Cape Town. PLAAS does research, policy engagement, teaching and training about the dynamics of chronic poverty and structural inequality in Southern Africa, with a particular emphasis on the key role of restructuring and contesting land holding and agro-food systems in the subcontinent and beyond.
Group of Studies on Violence, Justice and Human Rights; National University of Mar del Plata (UNMP)
The group develops its work with an interdisciplinary perspective and based on the foundations of action research or proactive research. The lines of research proposed by the group are centred around three interrelated thematic areas: studies on justice, studies on violence and crime, and studies on human rights. The group develops various links with state agencies in the field of security and human rights, having collaborated on issues such as local policing, memory policies, and trials for crimes against humanity.
Hakikat Adalet Hafıza Merkezi
Hafıza Merkezi (engl. Truth Justice Memory Center) is an independent human rights organization set up by a group of lawyers, journalists, academicians and human rights activists in November 2011 in Istanbul, Turkey. Hafıza Merkezi aims to contribute to peace and democracy by way of uncovering truth concerning gross violations of human rights, supporting survivors in their pursuit of justice and contributing to dissemination of narratives outside of official discourse in Turkey.
International Center for Development and Decent Work (ICDD)
The International Center for Development and Decent Work (ICDD) is a global multidisciplinary network of eight partner universities on four continents with its head office at the University of Kassel (Germany). It cooperates closely with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and various non-governmental organizations. The ICDD contributes to the global fight against hunger and poverty through research and education on the Sustainable Development Goal #8 to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work for all. A special focus lies thereby on the world’s 805 million people living in rural areas who face food insecurity.
Latin American Faculty of Social Science

The Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO) is an international institution with a presence in 13 Latin American countries. FLACSO conducts teaching, research, dissemination, academic extension, and technical cooperation activities. The FLACSO headquarters in Ecuador was established in 1974 and is part of the Ecuadorian university system. FLACSO Ecuador builds and disseminates knowledge in the field of social sciences and humanities through teaching and critical and creative research. Its principles are pluralism and academic autonomy, geared towards contributing to the development of the diverse currents of Latin American and Andean thought, and to promote justice, equity, and social inclusion.
PEACE

PEACE runs the People’s Information Centre (PIC) which is devoted to making policy documents of bilateral, multilateral, and government agencies accessible to field activists. PIC strives for keeping field activists updated on the issues they are working on and other people’s struggles.
Posgrado en Sociología

The Posgrado en Sociología (Graduate School of Sociology) is part of the “Alfonso Vélez Pliego” Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities in the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla. We have 15 professors and organize a master´s and a doctoral programme in sociology. In the master’s we have an intake of about 15 students every two years, and in the doctorate we receive about ten students annually. Both our faculty and our students are very international in composition. We are a critical and largely anti-capitalist programme with three main areas: community weavings and forms of the political, sociology of politics and development, and subjectivity and critical theory.
University of Brasilia
The University of Brasilia was created in 1962 in the capital of Brazil, and is among the best universities in the country. It offers free, inclusive, and high-quality education. Its postgraduate programme in sociology is among the highest ranked in Brazil (CAPES 7) and offers seven different streams of research around society and its transformation.
School of Labor and Industrial Relations (UP-SOLAIR)
The School of Labor and Industrial Relations (UP-SOLAIR) is a graduate degree-awarding institution within the University of the Philippines Diliman. The School is committed to the empowerment of labour, enlightened industrial relations, and social justice. Its purpose is to provide the highest quality of instruction, research, and extension services. The School seeks the enlightenment of workers and the strengthening of their organizations, and the democratization and humanization of industrial relations as a profession. UP-SOLAIR traces its roots back to 1954, when it was founded as the Labor Education Center (LEC).
