Verna Dinah Q. Viajar is a Senior Lecturer at the University of the Philippines, School of Labor and Industrial Relations (UP SOLAIR). She completed her PhD at the University of Osnabrück in 2019, and held a PhD fellowship at the International Center for Development and Decent Work at the University of Kassel from 2012–2016. Her research interests include the political economy of globalization, migrant and labour studies, Southeast Asian politics, and government and labour movement studies. Verna was involved with the Philippine student and labour movement beginning in 1989 while studying for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science at the University of the Philippines Diliman. After graduating, she worked as Programme Coordinator of Trade Union Education Program of the Labor Education and Research Network/LEARN and project coordinator for Global Network, a network of trade unions and NGOs in Asia against neoliberal globalization. She recently worked as project manager at the International Labour Organization Country Programme Manila from 2017–2019. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of the Philippines in Manila.
